Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-10-20
This policy explains how Alexandru Grecu, doing business as StreamNotch, handles personal information when you use the StreamNotch app for Mac, visit streamnotch.com or buy a license. StreamNotch is designed to keep your data on your Mac: it has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising.

The StreamNotch app
- No telemetry. The app contains no analytics, crash reporting or tracking, and doesn’t require an account.
- OBS. The app connects to the OBS WebSocket server you configure, usually on your own Mac. OBS status, audio levels and scene names stay on that connection. Your OBS password is stored in the macOS Keychain.
- Video checks. If you turn on black or frozen video detection, the app asks OBS for small preview images of up to three sources every few seconds while you record or stream. They are analysed in memory and never saved or sent anywhere.
- Session reports (durations, file paths, alerts and markers) are stored locally in your Library folder and can be deleted in Settings. They never include chat content.
- Twitch and YouTube. If you connect an account, the app talks directly to that platform with read-only access. Access tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain. Chat is shown in the app, kept in memory only and never sent to us.
- Shortcuts. If you set start or end Shortcuts, the app runs them on your Mac. It doesn’t read what they do.
- License. To activate and validate your license, the app sends your license key and an activation label to Polar. The label is derived from your Mac’s hardware identifier and doesn’t reveal your name or any other personal details.
- Updates. To check for updates, the app downloads an update feed from streamnotch.com. When you install an update, it downloads the new version from GitHub, where our releases are hosted. Both receive a normal web request (see below).
This website
streamnotch.com doesn’t set cookies and doesn’t use analytics or advertising trackers. Like any website, our providers process standard request data (IP address, requested page, time, browser and referrer) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and keep it only as long as their operational logs require.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as merchant of record. Polar processes your name, email address, billing details and payment information to complete the sale, calculate taxes, issue your license key and handle refunds. We receive your email address and order details (order ID, product, amount, date and status) so we can support you. Card details are never shared with us.
Support emails
If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
Service providers
We share personal information only with the providers needed to run StreamNotch. We don’t sell personal information.
- Polar: checkout, payments, taxes, license keys and the customer portal.
- Cloudflare: DNS, delivery and protection of streamnotch.com, and forwarding of email sent to [email protected].
- Hetzner (Germany): the server that hosts streamnotch.com.
- GitHub: hosting of app downloads and update files.
- Google: delivery of support email to our inbox, and YouTube if you connect it.
- Twitch: only if you connect your Twitch account in the app.
Legal bases
We process personal information to perform our contract with you (selling and licensing StreamNotch, providing support), for our legitimate interests (running a secure website and preventing abuse) and to meet legal obligations (tax and accounting records).
International transfers
Some providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention
We keep support emails for as long as needed to help you and handle follow-ups. Order records (order ID, date, amount and the email address on the receipt or license) are kept for as long as tax, accounting and licensing obligations require. Data the app stores on your Mac stays there until you delete it or remove the app.
Security
Passwords and tokens are kept in the macOS Keychain, and every network connection the app makes to Polar, Twitch, Google, GitHub and streamnotch.com is encrypted. No system is completely secure, but we keep what we hold to a minimum.
Children
StreamNotch isn’t directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, UK GDPR and US state privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Email [email protected] to exercise these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; in Romania that is the ANSPDCP.
We don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Because the site has no tracking, there is nothing for browser Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals to switch off.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the effective date on this page and, for material changes, tell existing customers by email.
