Terms of Service

Effective 2026-10-20

Draft. This page has not been reviewed yet and may change before StreamNotch launches.

These terms are an agreement between you and Alexandru Grecu, doing business as StreamNotch, for buying StreamNotch and using streamnotch.com. Using the app itself is also covered by the End User License Agreement. By buying or using StreamNotch you agree to both. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.

1. Who we are

Alexandru Grecu
Street Tineretului nr. 17, bl. 6, entrance A
Chiajna 077041
Romania
[email protected]

2. The product

StreamNotch is a macOS app that shows OBS Studio’s status in your MacBook’s notch and warns you about problems it can detect through OBS and your Mac, such as a muted microphone, dropped frames or low disk space. It requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later and OBS Studio 28 or later (built-in WebSocket server). Some features, like Twitch and YouTube chat, depend on those platforms and your account’s eligibility.

3. Purchases and payment

StreamNotch is sold through Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. Polar processes your payment, charges any sales tax or VAT and issues your receipt and license key, and its own terms apply to the checkout. Prices are shown at checkout and may change, but a change never affects a purchase you have already made.

4. Your license

  • A license is a one-time purchase for use by one person, personally or for work.
  • You can activate it on up to 3 Macs at a time and move it by deactivating a Mac in the app or the customer portal.
  • It includes every 1.x update. A future major version may be offered as a paid upgrade; your license itself never expires.
  • The full license terms are in the EULA.

5. Refunds

You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason. See the Refund Policy. This doesn’t limit any statutory withdrawal or refund rights you have as a consumer.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • share, resell, sublicense or publish your license key, or use someone else’s;
  • circumvent license checks, activation limits or update signatures;
  • reverse engineer or modify the app, except where the law allows it;
  • use StreamNotch or this website in a way that breaks the law or the terms of OBS, Twitch or YouTube;
  • attack, overload or scrape streamnotch.com or our license and update services.

7. What StreamNotch can and can’t do

StreamNotch helps you notice problems quickly, but it can’t detect every problem and it doesn’t control whether OBS records or streams successfully. Always check important recordings and keep backups. Features that rely on OBS, macOS, Twitch or YouTube can change or stop working when those services change.

8. Third-party services

OBS Studio, Twitch, YouTube, Polar and GitHub are independent services with their own terms and privacy policies. StreamNotch is not affiliated with or endorsed by the OBS Project, Twitch, Google or Apple. Their names are used only to describe compatibility.

9. Intellectual property

The StreamNotch app, name, logo, website and content belong to us or our licensors. Buying a license gives you the right to use the app as described in the EULA, not ownership of it.

10. Disclaimer

Apart from the rights you have by law, StreamNotch and this website are provided as is and as available, without other warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost recordings, lost revenue, missed streams or other indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence.

12. Termination

If you seriously breach these terms or the EULA, for example by sharing your license key publicly, or if a payment is charged back, we may deactivate the affected license. We’ll tell you why by email when we can.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Romanian law. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of habitual residence still apply, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern; we’ll reply within 30 days.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows the current version, and changes never apply retroactively to purchases you have already made.
